February - Josh McLain & Barbara Gordon -
Sewing & Vacuum Authority
Joshua McLain, General Manager of the Louisville area Sewing & Vacuum Authority, gave us a short history of this locally owned company before filling us in on their expansion into the quilting arena. It was very informative, and everyone was interested to learn of the store's future endeavors.
After Joshua finished, Barbara Gordon did a demo using Quilter's Select fusible stabilizer to make perfect points. Again, everyone was interested to see how this worked, and were impressed with the finished blocks. Joshua also showed us the Wolf collage quilt that he designed and made, with advice from Barbara.
They then had drawings for several door prizes, from patterns to tools to basting spray, that recipients were thrilled to get.
All in all, it was a fun program and we were happy to have Joshua and Barbara there.

January - KHQS President's Challenge - Churn Dash
For the second year in a row, Nadine Cox, one of our guild members, presented the wonderful quilts submitted for the 2019 Churn Dash challenge. She did a fantastic job, and everyone enjoyed seeing the quilts and hearing the quilters' inspirations for each. As she has for several years, Linda Sanford, a guild member and past president, submitted a quilt, as did other quilters familiar to the local community.
Next years challenge will be announced this spring, and Nadine encouraged everyone to join KHQS and participate. She also encouraged everyone to volunteer for the Quilt Registry program sponsored by KHQS.
A few of the ~30 quilts submitted are pictured below.
